This time of year ( around New Years) is one of the most popular times to become engaged!
In January and February, the phone starts ringing for me; all of the couples who were engaged are looking at venues, vendors, budgets, and more. I love this time of year!
Before we continue, I do want to say CONGRATS! If you are reading this, you may be newly engaged. I am a wedding photographer in Colorado, and love helping couples with advice for planning the big day.
Today, I thought it would be helpful to share some tips for caring for your engagement ring. The shiny new bling on your finger is not only sentimental, but symbolic.
It may be the most important and valuable piece of jewelry you own, so read on!
Maya & Charles are insane amounts of fun.
We laughed so hard together at their engagement session! They are fun, full of life, and easy to hang out with.
We took a short drive up to Evergreen, CO for their Colorado mountain engagement session. Keeping things natural, simple, and outdoors fit them perfectly!
Engagement season is upon us! It's October, and with that comes family, Holidays, cool air, and beautiful sights to see. It's the perfect time of year to propose!
Christmas and New Years Eve, in fact, are some of the most popular days to pop the question. If you really want to throw your partner off with a bigger surprise, consider proposing in the days leading up to the Holidays (instead of ON the Holiday, when he or she might be expecting it).
There are some gorgeous places to propose in Colorado, whether you are coming from out of State, or know the State well. If you work with me to photograph your proposal on the sly, I can help you nail down a location and plan something special too.
Let's get started!
Over-used statements aside here, if I had a dollar for every couple who told me that they 'didn't need an engagement session' I think I'd be rich!
As a wedding photographer, however, I like to think of myself as somewhat of an expert on the topic of weddings, engagements, and yes...photos!
If you are on the fence about having an engagement session, or if you feel that they may be awkward, strange, or worthless, read on!
I'm sharing some of the best reasons to have a Colorado engagement session, whether you have booked me for your wedding or are traveling from another State.
Morgan and Reed moved to Colorado on a leap of Faith.
They knew that they wanted to get married in Colorado, and were in love with everything about it. It just made sense for them to drop everything they knew and move here without so much as a job, place to live, or plan! Talk about spontaneous - these are my kind of people.
I would certainly say things are looking up for them! They hired me to photograph their wedding at the Chatfield Botanic Gardens in Littleton. Together with Wanda Bonner (Blue Linden Weddings) I'm looking so forward to seeing their beautiful Colorado wedding come to life.
Kristine & Aaron are a fun couple who first met at Illegal Pete's in Denver. Together at the outdoor bar, they sparked a relationship that would ultimately lead to their small Colorado wedding at the Maroon Bells in Aspen, CO.
We decided to use this opportunity to style a date night engagement session; they wanted to share their relationship in a way that was uniquely personal to them! Illegal Pete's is a hip, awesome hangout in Denver, and it was a fun opportunity for them to be more candid on camera.
Not only am I sharing a few photos from their date night engagement session, but I wanted to give you a few reasons why focusing on candid engagement photos may be right for you!
'Remember the move Bride Wars? Candice Bergen plays the role of a sought after 'high end' wedding planner; she carries an attitude that is arrogant, pretentious, and confident in the face of two best friends vying to have the most opulent and perfect wedding.
This over the top story is what many people think of when it comes to the idea of hiring a wedding planner; reserved perhaps for only luxury events, large weddings, and formal etiquette.
I happen to know that my couples are nothing like ‘Olivia’ and ‘Emma’, and that the wedding planners I recommend are nothing like ‘Marion St. Claire’.
There is so much more to the wedding planner story!
Fall engagement photo sessions in Colorado are a favorite of mine! Nothing beats heading to the mountains and enjoying the crisp air and beautiful colors. So when Hana and Doug told me they were wanting an engagement session when the leaves were at the peak colors I was thrilled! We watched the trees like hawks until they were perfect....then headed up to Morrison, Colorado and spent the afternoon hiking, chatting about everything and laughing way too much. It was a perfect way to spend the day. I am so excited for their wedding at Meadows at Marshdale in Evergreen Colorado this April!
As many of you know I have split my websites into two - one for portraits and this one for weddings, engagements and elopements. I will be writing new content for this website, however, to get things started I am bringing over a few of my fave blogs from www.SilverSparrowPhoto.com. So I wanted to share one of my favorite winter engagement sessions. I have loved getting to know these two and am very excited to share these wonderful images once again!
I ask every couple a few questions to get to know them a bit better. When I heard how these two met I was nothing but smiles. It's such a sweet story! From the happy couple - We officially met our freshman year of high school in Mrs. Blaze's English class. After dating for a brief moment, we decided to just be friends. We had at least one class together each semester after that and stayed in the same friend group. After going onto college, we remained friends and grabbed lunch or coffee every time we were both back in town visiting family. Right before our senior year of college, we expressed our feelings for each other and have been dating ever since.
