Kristine & Aaron are a fun couple who first met at Illegal Pete's in Denver. Together at the outdoor bar, they sparked a relationship that would ultimately lead to their small Colorado wedding at the Maroon Bells in Aspen, CO. We decided to use this opportunity to style a date night engagement session; they wanted to share their relationship in a way that was uniquely personal to them! Illegal Pete's is a hip, awesome hangout in Denver, and it was a fun opportunity for them to be more candid on camera. Not only am I sharing a few photos from their date night engagement session, but I wanted to give you a few reasons why focusing on candid engagement photos may be right for you! 3 Reasons to Schedule a Date Night Engagement SessionKristine, Aaron, and I had a great time together at their portrait session in Denver. They got to enjoy cocktails, and I got to enjoy doing what I love: working with couples who simply can't wait to be married! 1. The sky is the limit; be yourselves! When you have me follow you around on a date, anything goes. Perhaps you like to make dinner at home and watch funny movies on the couch. Maybe you go often go tubing together in the creek, and stop at a patio after for tapas! You could even spend the evening walking around downtown, window shopping for a while before kicking off your shoes in the splash fountain and eating epic ice cream sundaes. I'll tag along and photograph you together, enjoying this amazing and carefree time in your life. All of these are incredible opportunities to create engagement photos that are focused on you as a couple and the things that you love to do together. 2. A candid date night engagement session is much more relaxed than formal, posed images. Yes, I mentioned cocktails. With relaxed engagement photos like this, I actually encourage it! Be yourselves, snuggle up to the bar, get close, and enjoy each other's company without focusing on the camera. I can absolutely grab a few formal, posed photos if you need a few, but these date night engagement sessions really are all about sharing time together just as you would any other day. A lot of couples prefer this more candid approach; it feels very relaxed with no pressure to be perfect. As an added bonus, I find that people are at their best when they are calm, happy, and relaxed as we see in candid engagement photos! 3. A candid date night urban engagement session may offer a nice contrast from a mountain or outdoor wedding, or visa-versa. If you are planning an outdoor wedding, the urban feel of the city can offer a ton of variety and interest to the full set of images you will receive from me as your wedding photographer. On the flip side, if you are planning a super chic city wedding, having your 'date night' photos be of your outdoor adventures offers an opportunity to show both sides of who you are as a couple. Be creative! Think about what you really enjoy doing together as a couple and throw some ideas my way. I'd love to hear what you are thinking up, and I am happy to offer suggestions as well.
